A night to be cherished

I had just celebrated darling's birthday over the weekend. Due to his birthday which falls on Sunday, we choose to celebrate on Saturday night. Coincidentally, we won't have prayer meeting on saturday. The timing were just perfect. Prior to his birthday, i was wrecking my mind on how to celebrate his very first birthday together with me. Flash back to 5 years ago, even though we knew each other, he had kept a low profile of his birthday. Even when we were practicing dance together on his birthday, he never mentioned about it. I wanted to make this birthday special for him. He deserved a good celebration after all the storms he went through with me. I had promised him earlier to bring him to Kampachi buffet in Equatorial Hotel. Both of us were looking forward to it ever since. I bought him something he needed. I bought him his first Hush Puppies. He tried it on one day when we were in Parkson last month. I had it in mind ever since to give him as a gift. I know Chinese believe that it is 'suey' (bad luck) to give a boyfriend/girlfriend shoes as gift 'coz they might ran away. To me i thought maybe it can help him to run faster after me if i ever ran away on my wedding day lol. To explain this crude joke, it is because i had always dreamt of running away as a bride in my dream. *shivers* :P Plus, i believe nobody can steal away true blessing from God. I might be lied to, insinuated by enemy of my soul, that it may happen but seriously nothing can separate whom God has put together.
On that week, i was actually out of idea how to give him a surprise. First thing that came to my mind is maybe i can ask the brethren to help out. But since there is no meetings from Friday onwards it was kinda hard. I actually pray to God for creative ideas. All my ideas came pretty last minute. On thursday, suddenly a light bulb went up when i was chatting with him. Yes, i can surprise him after our dinner on saturday. I knew he expected me to at least accompany him until 12pm. I planned to tell him that i am unable to accompany him and have to go back earlier before 12pm. Since the drive is long for me, i know he will relent to it. To accomplish the surprise i have to seek the help of his parents. Which i am not sure if they will agree to it. :P So i surrender the idea to God and believe He will make a way if He wants the idea to happen. On Thursday itself, i told desmond that i am unable to stay so late with him. Haha! I am still laughing at his 'expression'. He said he is 'sulking badly' ahahahahahahhaha i gotta feeling he would do the expression again when he read this :P
I need to explain how God opens the red sea for me. On Friday, i still didn't know how to approach his mom to discuss about my idea to surprise him. Lo and behold, Desmond's mom intercom me on Friday morning in the office and ask me to eat 'tong suey' (red bean dessert) she had prepared the night before. (Awwww...) My opportunity had arise but still i need to be prayerful :P So i observe the situation and have a chat with aunty first. Than it felt alright, than i grabbed the opportunity before i run out of guts to say it. She was quite open about the idea and she gave me uncle's number to arrange with him since she is traveling to Turkey on Saturday evening. So i made an arrangement with uncle over the phone. 50% accomplishment now. :D
So i remember he told me he would love a home-made birthday chocolate cake from me. :) I invested in an oven, electric mixer, some tools for baking this month. It is great because i have been thinking of going back to baking for a long time. To choose the recipe was hard for me too. I have browse over a lot of choc cake recipe on the web. Even though sister Helen did give me a recipe for chocolate cake, i lack one essential ingredients so was unable to do it on fri nite. I need to squeeze everything in on fri nite. For that one night, i baked cookies, chocolate molten cake and cupcakes in case one of the recipes didn't turn out right. The cupcakes turned out awful because it was a pre-mix. I didnt present it to him. Even though the paper cupcakes is so cute. I sacrificed my sleep on fri nite and woke up at 5.30am on saturday to bake the pre-mix of choc molten cake i prepare the night before. But it is all worth it at the end. The smile on his face is  priceless :D
On saturday morning, after the cake was ready i went to work. I brought along the cakes, cookies, cupcakes and gifts with me because i'm supposed to go to his house straight after work My schedule is very very tight. I kept my food in the car, hoping so much the sun wont destroy it. It is impossible to get the food in the house without him knowing. His mom's car reached first and he took a huge yellow  umbrella to shield his mom from sun. Wah just like agong but i thought it is a sweet gesture.:P After that he came back with that super heavy umbrella to shield me wow feels like princess LOL. He is such a sweet guy. At 3.30pm, we had to sent aunty to airport. I wanted to go see the newly renovated airport. Thumbs-up to it! We waited for awhile for everyone to gather, darling said a prayer and we went home. Back at home, i presented my Hush Puppies gift to him because i want him to wear it that night itself. He loves it and took many pictures with the shoes LOL! Anyway, he said it is like walking on carpet with the shoes on. Ahaha. After that, we got ready for our much anticipated buffet. Yippee!

The japanese buffet is reviewed and rumored as the best japanese buffet in town. They were said to served the most fresh sashimi. Awesome. My favourite! With the amount of sashimi i can consume, i know it would be worth the price. So the buffet holds true to its claim. When we first arrived at the place, we were greeted with smiles and what pleases me is when we requested for the African daisy to be on my table too. They were accomodating hehe. My favorite flower. I whacked a lot of sashimi think most of it were sashimi in my belly. I am so rich of Omega-3 Fatty Acid now. Glowing skin woohoo. Darling   was shocked to see how much sashimi i can eat :P  Besides the sashimi another thing that blows our mind is the green tea tiramisu and green tea cheese cake. O so heavenly! We avoided most of the fried stuff and just pick our food according to quality. Sashimi alone was exceeding the price we paid. The sukiyaki was delicious too. O and the oyster, that is the first dish we attacked *sheepish smiles* haha. They were so fresh and sweet with just a squeeze of lemons. Both of us have a little surprise that night. In the middle of the dinner, there was a cake presentation complimentary of the restaurant. I did mention to them that we are celebrating birthday there. They promised us a complimentary cake but what surprised me is that they light a candle, put the cake on a plate, write happy birthday with chocolate sauce on the plate and a waiter to sing to us the birthday song. The manager came by to wish darling. That was very nice of them. Kudos to Kampachi for making effort.

After the dinner, it was already after 10pm so we went to hotel lobby to see some outdoor wedding event. The theme was hawaiian, most of the recipients were in hawaiian shirts. Darling still have a hint of hope that i will stay with him 'til 12 o'clock. So i have to put on my best act and convince him to be understanding to me.:P He was actually very convinced. So he reluctantly sent me back to his house to get my car :P Just before i drove off, he gave me the African daisy we have taken from the restaurant. He is being so sweet again. Still my heart is set to give him a surprise so i said my goodbye and drove off. I drove to a shop lots nearby and it occurred to me that he will be taking his bath soon. So i drove back to the road leading to his house. Sms uncle so that he will open the door for me when Desmond is in his bath. Straight before his bath, Desmond sent me an sms to thank me of how i made him feel special. Already?! Wait til the surprise :P
His 'real gift' :P
Shortly, uncle called to say i can go in now. So i parked my car beside the neighbor's sidewall. Letting the wall hid my car a bit from his sight in case he came out. When i got into the house, the first thought was to hide behind the kitchen, the laundry area to be exact. Thank God, uncle knew his routine and said he will go there. So he told me to go inside the guest room just situated beside kitchen. Once inside, it was total darkness. I had to sit very still coz uncle said if i move Desmond is able to see shadow movement from window. So i sat there for almost 30-40 mins. Still plotting. He did really came down to laundry area to put his dirty clothes. 5 mins to twelve, i went back to laundry area with my cake and prepare to sms him to come down to the room to collect his 'real gift' which i told him i had left for him. Haha! There is really a mystery box waiting in the room and the african daisy he gave me seated on top. He took awhile to come down because he called me back but i didnt pick up. Finally he made his way down and when he open the door is my cue to go out with my birthday cake for him. I sang him birthday song and uncle join in and he is delightfully stunned. O i wish someone had snapped a picture that time. Priceless.
Uncle gave his precious son a hug and wished him. Darling gave me a hug coz he is speechless :P The surprise is a success. It was a night to be remembered. The only thing i have overlooked was i forgot to hide my heels. Desmond actually went out to get something from his car. He saw my heels and kept it in his car. All the while thinking i had an extra pair of heels and forgot to take home. My forgetfulness had worked for good this time. HAHA!

Giving thanks for this fearfully and wonderfully made man just for me;)
